Skylanders: Shapeshifters is the scrapped prototype game idea that would eventually lead to the creation of Skylanders: Swap Force.
Details
The idea was that the gimmick skylanders would be like the Swapforce skylanders, only being made up of three parts instead of two. When the parts where mixed and then put on the portal, the skylander would appear as if it was it's own skylander, having each part flow naturally into each other.
