Butterflies are insects seen flying around in various levels in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure and Skylanders: Giants. They appear in three color variations: blue and orange, pink and green, and light blue and dark blue.
Butterflies can act as Food source in some occasions. Sparx the Dragonfly can turn Enemies into Butterflies when defeated by his fireballs. The Butterflies heal the Skylander by 3 health points when collected, by either Sparx or by the Skylander. Thrillipede can create Butterflies with his Soul Gem ability Beautiflies, these heal up Thrillipede and other Skylanders by 70 when collected.
