Dragons are one of the native species of Skylands. They come in all shapes and sizes and are closely connected to the elements. Younger dragons are highly adaptive to their surroundings, making the way they are raised a key factor in determining their adult forms, powers and personalities.

The dragon's realm is called Dragon's Peak, where the oldest and largest of their kind reside. Since few dragons other than the Skylanders are encountered elsewhere, the dragons may very well be one of the rarest species in all of Skylands. It is mentioned in many of the Dragons' biographies that they tend to be outsiders. Despite being shunned by those around them, dragons do have a strong sense of responsibility or purpose.

In Spyro's Adventure, there is one dragon Skylander for each element.

Purple Dragons, like Spyro, are a rare species of dragon who are associated with the Magic element, being able to harness the power of the other elements.

Trivia

  • Purple Dragons having the power to harness the power of the other elements is a direct reference to the purple dragons from The Legend of Spyro series.
  • Although most dragons fly, Fire KrakenBash, Zap and Camo can't fly due to lacking wings. Oddly, Sunburn and Flashwing have wings, but still cannot fly in the games they appear in.
    • Though they are both seen flying in their promotional videos.
  • Camo is the only dragon without an ability to make him travel faster.
  • While male dragons have teeth (except for Sunburn), female dragons are toothless and often have beaks instead of refular mouths..
  • All dragons in this game appear to be similarly-shaped quadrupeds with the exception of Fire Kraken who is a biped. Also, Fire Kraken is the first dragon to have two words in his name instead of one.
  • The only two elements to have more than one dragon are Earth, with Bash and Flashwing, and Fire, with Sunburn and Fire Kraken. (not counting variants).
  • The Skylander Dino-Rang is often mistaken for a dragon, which makes him angry.
