:"They" is a neutral verb for when you don't know the gender of someone, isn't it? It's why NiGHTs from the eponymous video game series is refered to as they, at least that's what I've been told. But eh, the article is small enough there won't be a sentence where he/she won't work until we discover the gender, I guess it's fine.
