Revision as of 03:50, November 21, 2011 by Diorm (talk | contribs)

Template:InfoboxSpyro is a major character and one of the main 32 playable Skylanders in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure.

Personality

It is mentioned that Spyro is a courageous young dragon with a headstrong attitude. Even though he is young at heart, he has great knowledge over the areas he protects in Skylands more than any other Skylander, evolving into one of Skylands' most valued protectors committed to defending his world from evil. Spyro also appears to good friends with Gill Grunt and Trigger Happy.

It is also mentioned by the producers of Skylanders that Spyro is one of the few characters in the game who is leader-like.

Appearance

Spyro is a small purple dragon with yellow horns, yellow spines running from the top of the head to near the tip of his tail, yellow plates running from his chest to his tail, a yellow tip, which has four segments, on his tail, and white claws. Unlike most dragons, Spyro is quadrepedal. You can visibly see scales all over his body. He has red eyes. Spyro has four canine teeth which are evident when he opens his mouth, and a full tongue, unlike his CGI look, who has a forked one. The soles of his feet are light orange, and he has three toes on each foot. His wings are purple with yellow webbing in between the "fingers". Spyro is in his teens and is about the same hieght as the average 3 year-old.

Abilities

Being a purple dragon, Spyro has the ability to harness the power of the other elements, though he prefers to master fire. He can also combine the powers of darkness with his own to become Dark Spyro. Using his horns, and infusing them with the element of fire, Spyro can charge at his enemies and knock down obstacles.

Being a dragon, Spyro also has the ability to fly.

Biography

Spyro hails from a rare line of magical purple dragons that come from a faraway land few have ever traveled. It's been said that the Scrolls of the Ancients mention Spyro prominently -- the old Portal Masters having chronicled his many exciting adventures and heroic deeds. Finally, it was Master Eon himself who reached out and invited him to join the Skylanders. From then on, evil faced a new enemy -- and the Skylanders gained a valued ally.

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure

Spyro was the first to dart into battle when Kaos sent his minions to destroy the Core of Light. Despite their best efforts however, Kaos destroyed the Core of Light using a four-head monster, and Spyro, along with the other Skylanders, were banished from their world to Earth, where they were turned into toys as a result of that world having no magic, awaiting the next Portal Master to help them save Skylands.

Trivia

  • Spyro is one of the two known characters, besides Cynder, from the original Spyro series to appear in Skylanders.
  • A lot of fans thought that Spyro wasn't going to talk in Skylanders due to numerous gameplay videos of him only growling. His speaking voice was later revealed in one of his Character Trailers.
  • In Spyro's biography in Skylanders, it mentions that Spyro came from "an ancient line of magical purple dragons". This is a reference to the Purple Dragon of Legend prophecy that occured only in the Legend of Spyro series.
    • His biography also mentions that he has been on 'many exciting adventures', which references Classic Spyro's adventures in the original Spyro series.
  • Although his second promotional art shows Spyro's claws are white, in the final version of the game, they are yellow.
  • Even though he was designed by Tom Hester, the character designer of Shrek, Spyro's design in Skylanders is widely hated by the majority of the older Spyro fanbase, who wanted Spyro to stay true to either his Classic design or his Legend of Spyro design.
  • Unlike his Classic and Legend counterpart, Spyro's eyes are red, and not purple.
    • He also has a forked tongue in Skylanders, which is a traditional feature in dragons of folklore and other adaptions, although so far, he is only shown to have a forked tongue in his CGI look.
  • In Skylanders, Spyro has his wings folded against his body when they're not in use, while his Classic and Legend counterpart always keeps their wings open during most occasions.
  • Like his Classic counterpart, Spyro has charging and flaming as his main attacks.
  • While Spyro's CGI version and toy form have two colors on his wings (with purple on top and completely yellow underneath), his in-game version doesn't possess that detail.
