Dark Spyro
Dark Spyro is a counterpart of Spyro who is available exclusively when you buy the 3DS version of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. However, you can still use him with any version of the game and even on the Spyro's Universe web game.
Appearance
Dark Spyro looks exactly the same as Spyro apart from the fact he is black where he should be purple and silver where he should be orange.
Abilities
Although Dark Spyro has the exact same abilities as Spyro in the console version of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure(and thus the same as Legendary Spyro, with only a colour swap), his changes are quite dramatic in the 3DS version of the game.
In the 3DS version, Spyro and Legendary Spyro are quite masterful shooting just regular fireballs and using their Horn Charge. However, Dark Spyro is more adept at physical slashes and using magical thunder. At first he can use only a three-hit slashing combo, and of course dash and jump, and is also one of the characters able to glide. As he levels up he learns to shoot thunder balls(which he can later run over to get power and speed boosts) and shoot powerful rays of lightning energy.
Trivia
- Dark Spyro is a reference to Spyro's Dark Form from The Legend of Spyro series, first appearing in The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night.
- Dark Spyro is the only "Dark" variant.
- Dark Spyro is the only variant that can have a different ability set(when used with the 3DS game).
- Dark Spyro enters the game differently on the 3DS game and Spyro's Universe.
