Skylanders: Spyro's Universe is a online web-based game. You can play Spyro's Universe without purchasing any
Skylanders merchandise, as the game will provide you three characters if you do not have your own.
Webcodes can be found packaged with the figures, and can also be accessed from the character information screen ("Statistics") inside the Spyro's Adventure versions of the game.
A statistic in both the console and 3DS versions of the game called "Hero Level" is intended to indicate the exploits of your character on the website.
But to get bigger skylands you must get figures and to get discounts on renting characters you need figures.
