Troll Gates are barriers protected by turrets. They are used by Trolls to block off paths in Goo Factory and Operation: Troll Rocket Steal. They shoot projectiles (in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure) or lasers (in Skylanders: Trap Team) at approaching Mabu or Skylanders. They have to be taken out with bombs for the Skylander to progress.
