Skylanders/Spyro Wiki content

So these edits you made today to separate the two wikis... Where might you be getting the content you are using? For that matter, where did the "original" Spyro wiki content come from? Taking out the non-Skylanders Spyro series references made at least a small bit of sense, but I feel it would have been better to edit them to reference the Spyro wiki and/or cite the source. What I didn't care for was the dumbing down of the Zap page. Not all of us here are little children tinkering with our very first website and all the blunders that come with that. The Zap biography wording, as it was displayed on this site, was not created by the folks at the Spyro wiki. Simply check your sources before you assume they are incorrect, play nice, and all will be well in wikia-land. Regardless of your possibly good-natured intent, your actions became the equivalent of vandalism. (P.S. This "you guys" and "our wiki" nonsense is silly. You yourself are now making changes at both sites, which kinda dissolves the distinction a bit.) -- GhostMaple 18:26, December 14, 2011 (UTC)

Citing the source is okay. The biography of Zap on the Spyro Wiki was simply a mixture between Zap's old bio, and the new bio Activision revealed some time ago that I decided to put together, way before the members here copied and pasted from there to here. Actually Zap's bio on the page is the newer version Activision recently posted and the official Skylanders site has, not our wiki's version. -- Aura24 19:19, December 14, 2011 (UTC)

Yes, that's what I mean. Ah, I see I was a bit ambiguous there. I mean that the original text that was there on the Skylanders wiki's Zap page prior to today's changes was from the newer Skylanders.com website info and not from your enhanced version hosted at the Spyro wiki. Well my first question is how do you add your photo next to your signature becuase I see your Bash photo right next to your name whenever you write down your signature. Leland turbo 17:29, December 17, 2011 (UTC)

If you click on the arrow next to your username in the top right corner, you will see a link called My Preferences. If you click on that, you can set a custom signature. In that signature, you can add an image link in the same way as you can do on a wiki page. After you've done that, you can click on it to upload a picture to use as icon. You have to link to an image uploaded on the wiki, not on your own pc. An example would be: [[Image:LelandSignatureIcon.jpg|20px]]. After that, if you place your signature somewhere, you will instead get a red link. Click on that and upload your signature image, and you're done. ThierryTNG 08:09, December 18, 2011 (UTC)

Well, to put it plainly then: anything you put in your signature works the exact same way as it would when you use source code on a page. If you don't know how to do that, then I'm afraid you cannot add images to your signature. ThierryTNG 09:33, December 23, 2011 (UTC)

Admin

Hi Aura!

I think you'd be an excellent admin! You just need to make sure you fulfill the Adoption Guidelines over here: http://community.wikia.com/wiki/Community_Central:Adoption_requests

The only thing I really think you need is to show you have support from the community since there are a few active members here. Start a blog post or a forum thread stating that you wish to be admin and ask if anyone has any objections. Once active members have chimed in, please link me to it and I'd be more than happy to grant you admin rights (provided the community thinks you'd make a good candidate).

Off Topic Images?

I have to politely disagree with the decision not to include the Winged Sapphires image on Persephone's page. If that page really is about her, it should include things like information about her AND her shop. The Sapphires are a big part of that. And on a page with little information as it is, I think adding certain pictures is appropriate. From that point, the reader can click on a link for them, which will give a more detailed description. - 1Pdawan

Yes. When she first tells the player about the Sapphires, she refers to them as MY sapphires, meaning hers. I'd say that's related to her. - 1Pdawan

I just created a wiki called Skylanders: Giants Wiki I need your help because i'm having numerous amounts of trouble with it and I promise to make you an admin, p.s. is it okay if you can put a link on the main page of the skylanders wiki that leads to the skylanders: giants wiki? Templates

Hey Aura, I've started to transfer/recreate the templates from the Spyro wiki. I've listed them on my userpage for you to check them out. I intend to use the toy figure icons I added for the navbars, so please do not delete them (and if we end up using it, you might wanna protect them from editing). Sure, I'll look into it. It's not too hard though, so you could do it if you want. It doesn't require any image editing, you just gotta upload a picture and Wikia will turn it into a badge. It's a pretty well designed feature. ThierryTNG 22:35, February 11, 2012 (UTC)

I'm not quite sure what you're getting at, but if Aura deletes something, it has a good reason. It could be that the info on the page is found elsewhere on the wiki already, or it could be that it was empty (so you can recreate the page again if you have something to post on it, empty pages won't do anyone any good). But most importantly: Aura's not a troublemaker, but the only admin on this wiki (and quite a good one too) ThierryTNG 14:15, February 9, 2012 (UTC)

Character Page Layout

I've used the Dino-Rang page to try a few things with the layout. I've got one now that I like myself, would you be willing to give your opinion on it? Character Box

The character box template is up and running now (see Bash). I've altered it and the other templates a bit so they'll now use colors based on the Skylander's element, or the colors you picked if no element is specified (for npcs). I hope you like it. ThierryTNG 13:53, February 15, 2012 (UTC)

Customized Badges

Hey, I noticed that the badges have started to be personalized. They look great so far. Would you mind if I worked on more of them? What in the World???

I have recently heard about this new badge called "Boomer's Buddy" it says you have to edit one skylanders page but what's the difference between a regular page and a skylanders page??? Leland turbo 01:32, February 22, 2012 (UTC)

Leland, that was a sort of test badge. To add a bit of fun, I'll be adding a new set of badges, similar to the Edit badges. They'll be for edits on Playable Characters (skylanders). So if a page is categorized under "Playable Characters," it'll add towards your badge goal. It'll be a bit of a challenge. 1Pdawan 01:54, February 22, 2012 (UTC)

The badge system allows admins to make 'special badges' that are handed out when a user makes edits on pages that belong to a specific category (in this case all pages in Category:Playable Characters). Thus what you have to do, is make more edits to pages in that category. The skylander in the badges has been chosen by Pdwan1 by the way, and has nothing to with the Skylander who's page you've editted. The first badge will be Bash's Buddy for everyone. Trailer Pics

Ok I finished all 37 and they are all labeled correctly now. I added them as the first pic that appears so it is the first thing that all 37 have in order in nice high res shots. I deleted the doubles and some even had triples so hopefully no one will take it personally, was just cleaning up the gallery's and the pics so we don't have like 25 pics that are not being used that are low res anyways.
