Starter Packs are the central product of the Skylanders video game series, being comprised of a game, Portal of Power, and a small selection of Skylanders. Portal Owners Packs were also available, which just included the game and a more limited amount of figures.

The Starter Pack for Skylanders: Trap Team featured three versions, one for home consoles and the other for the Nintendo 3DS, which included a different selection of figures, and a new additional version for tablets, which is identical to the home console version except for including a different Portal of Power design as well as a controller.
Due to the new Portal of Power having additional capabilities, this game did not receive a Portal Owners Pack
Skylanders: Trap Team is the first game in which the home console versions of the Starter Pack includes two figures rather than the typical two, the third being replaced with two Traps. The handheld version does not include any Traps, while still cutting back to two figures.
