Lockmaster Imps are tiny green Imps who hide inside Lock Puzzles. They were first seen in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. To open these locks, the player must turn and tumble them to make the Lockmaster Imps fall onto different tumblers, which eventually unlocks the mechanism. Once the lock breaks, the Imps are sent flying out, and the gate opens. In Darklight Crypt, there is also a red ghost Lockmaster Imp, along with the regular green Imp. The red Imp falls slower than the green one. The player must ensure that the green Imp does not come into contact with the red one, as doing so will force them to restart the puzzle.

In Skylanders: Giants, Lockmaster Imps return and function the same way as in Spyro’s Adventure.

In Skylanders: Trap Team, the Lockmaster Imps are now equipped with jet-packs, with the locks remaining stationary. The player presses a direction, and the Imp will fly in that direction until it hits a wall. Some locks also contain angled bumpers that redirect the Imp’s movement. If playing in co-op, an orange Lockmaster Imp is also added.

In Skylanders: SuperChargers, the Lockmaster Imps pilot their own small vehicles in Livewire Locks. Instead of flying in straight lines, they are steered inside the locks and must start an engine to unlock it. The orange Lockmaster Imp also returns in co-op mode.

In Skylanders: Imaginators, new Imps with a game-inspired design appeared, known as Lockmaster Senseis. These Imps function similarly to those from Trap Team, sliding side to side within the locks. Red enemy Lockmaster senseis also appears in certain locks, which can be defeated by picking up a sword.

Trivia

  • They are similar to Om Nom, the principal character of the mobile game Cut the Rope.
  • In Wolfgang's Villain Quest, they are "enemies".
  • There are only two instances of Lockmaster Imps being able to talk. The first is the Imp in the first Lock Puzzle in Spyro's Adventure that has trapped Gurglefin, while the second are two of the Imps found in Darklight Crypt in Spyro's Adventure and Giants.
