Young Portal Master, this page holds content that contains spoilers.
If you have not finished Skylanders: SuperChargers, then it is highly recommended that you move onto another page.

The Dark Rift Engine is an enormous green Rift Engine in Skylanders: SuperChargers. Though it does not appear to have been created differently from the other ones, it is much larger, and can open a massive Rift to The Darkness' dimension. It was created by the Ancients who at the time were unaware of where it led to, allowing The Darkness to reach Skylands. After the incident, the engine was sealed off in the Vault of the Ancients.

In SuperChargers, the Dark Rift engine was recovered from the Vault as a last resort to defeat The Darkness after the Core of Light was destroyed. Sucessfully activated by Kaos inside the Sky Eater, it consumed the entire fortress and The Darkness in its Rift, and was presumably destroyed with the rest of the Sky Eater after The Darkness was defeated.

Trivia

  • Despite being sealed away thousands of years ago by the Ancients, The Darkness knows of its location, to the point of speaking about it in its sleep.
  • The Dark Rift Engine is different from the Dark-elemental Rift Engine used by Nightfall, which has a normal size and no difference in coloration.
