Woodpeckers are birds found throughout Skylands. They first appear in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure in the Empire of Ice, where they behave similarly to other Birds, flying away when approached by the Skylanders.
They are also seen in the Battle Arenas Pirate Grotto and Icicle Isle. In Pirate Grotto, one can be seen perched on a crate in the middle of the arena, while in Icicle Isle, two can be seen on rocks.
More notably, Tree Rex's and Barkley's Soul Gem ability grants them a Woodpecker companion that assists in battle by attacking enemies.

Trivia
- Intrestingly the one in Pirate Grotto will not fly away once approced unlike the other ones in Spyro's Adventure.
- They resemble the real world Pileated Woodpecker
