Flynn's Fables

In the Bag

All his life, and even some years before it, Sunburn had been the talk of Skylands due to the powers he possessed as a phoenix-dragon hybrid, which made him a common target for poaching and hunting (though he outwitted his pursuers every time). Some years before Sunburn had joined the Skylanders, he was taking an afternoon nap when a hunter slipped him into a flameproof sack while he was sleeping. Though his flames were unable to penetrate the sack, Sunburn managed to teleport out and set the hunter running with his hair on fire.

Dropping in on Kaos

Late last year before the book was written, Flynn was taking a flight near some cliffs in his balloon when he spotted Kaos, who was marching with a whole crowd of minions while Flameslinger stood in his way. As Kaos closed in on him, Flameslinger drew his bow and shot an arrow at Flynn’s balloon, popping it. The balloon then crash-landed right where Kaos stood and scared him enough that Flameslinger was able to send him running.

Eruptor’s Big Bet

Trigger Happy places a bet that Eruptor would be unable to stay calm for a whole hour, with the prize being a dozen gold coins if Eruptor won. Wanting to prove that he had control over his temper, Eruptor accepted the bet. Trigger Happy tries a variety a ways to set off Eruptor’s temper, such as insulting him, throwing Slam Bam’s snow cones at him, and otherwise prodding and annoying him. However, Eruptor manages to keep calm through the whole hour, and Trigger Happy gives Eruptor his prize… By shooting the coins at him, which causes Eruptor to finally erupt.

Armor Escape

After being placed under his curse, Ignitor sourced many means of help to break the curse. He first sought out the witch who cursed him, who merely left him a note telling him to listen to his mother in the future. With that failed, he sought out all the wizards and warlocks he could find, but none were able to break the curse. Failing that, he then sought out help from his fellow Skylanders, but all their attempts failed as well. Feeling desperate, Ignitor finally heads to his mother’s house to get her advice, but she merely tells him that he looks perfect the way he is, which lifted his spirits enough to stop his attempt to break the curse.

Armed and Dangerous

While waiting for Double Trouble to join him for sparring practice, Slam Bam catches a massive army led by the Evil Ice Yeti approaching. Knowing that his evil clone would be an equal match for him, and with Double Trouble nowhere in sight still, Slam Bam proposed an arm-wrestling contest to the Evil Ice Yeti to decide which of them was truly the strongest. With all but one hand behind their respective backs, the two yetis locked themselves into a draw, which allowed Slam Bam to stall long enough for Double Trouble to show up and help Slam Bam fight the army back.

Missing Mace Mystery

One day, Wham-Shell happened to lose his mace, and in a panic, grabs Flynn and demands to know if Flynn had taken it. Feeling sorry for him, Flynn agrees to help Wham-Shell look for the mace. Despite looking everywhere, the two are unable to find it until a young Mabu bounced a ball off of Wham-Shell’s shell by accident, then panicked and ran off upon spying him. It turned out that the Mabu and his friends had borrowed Wham-Shell’s mace to use as a bat for a game of blatter ball, which Wham-Shell happily joins in.

Zap-Tastic Prank

Flynn and Cali are enjoying a picnic together when a large, hairy beast comes upon the picnic as the sun sets. As the monster and three of its friends charge towards the picnic site, Flynn rushes to flee… But it turns out the monsters were just sheep that Zap had electrified to make their wool stand on end, and the whole thing was just a prank planned by Zap and Cali, which Flynn insist he knew about from the start.

It’s the Pits

Back when he was still a member of the Gillmen Marines, Gill Grunt’s platoon had set out on a midnight training exercise to cross the desert, capture a flag and bring it back to headquarters before the sun rose. While the rest of his platoon hurried to finish the mission due to their hatred of all places dry, Gill Grunt had stopped to write his girlfriend’s name in the desert sands, and was spared from falling into a hole covered by a gigantic spiderweb as a result. His teammates were trapped, and worse yet, encroached upon by a quintet of pit spiders and utterly defenseless, having lost their weapons in the fall. So, Gill Grunt wet down the pit’s sides to turn it into mud, allowing his teammates to blind the spiders with the mud before he pulled them out using the web.
