Woodpeckers are birds found throughout Skylands. They first appear in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure in the Empire of Ice, where they behave similarly to other Birds, flying away when approached by the Skylanders.
They are also seen in the Battle Arenas Pirate Grotto, Mushroom Grove and Icicle Isle.
More notably, Tree Rex's and Barkley's Soul Gem ability grants them a Woodpecker companion that assists in battle by attacking enemies.

- Intrestingly the ones in Icicle Isle will fly away once approced in Spyro's Adventure but not in Giants.
