Philosopher King Mortalannis, First Lord of the Undead was the first ruler of the Undead and the owner of the Skull Mask (to which he presumably wore). In the Cadaverous Crypt, he is mentioned in the Story Scroll "Life and Undeath" and his mask had to be retrieved as it was a component of the Core of Light.
