Story

History

It was said that Malefor has laid down in the shadows of the Underworld for centuries, sending his dark minions up to the world above to carry out his bidding.[1] The Dragon King played a sinister role in the histories of both Hex and Cynder, two Undead Skylanders. He was the one who raised Cynder to do his evil bidding after his henchmen stole her while the violet dragoness was still just an egg. His evil influence was what caused Cynder to spread fear throughout the land for years until Spyro finally defeated her, freeing Cynder from Malefor's control.

Malefor was also the one who attempted to capture Hex several times to unlock the secrets of her powers. In response, Hex confronted the Undead Dragon King himself in the underworld and successfully battled him, leaving Malefor terribly wounded.[1]

The shadow of Malefor absorbing the powers of Spyro, Cynder and Hex to revive himself.

After centuries of lurking in the caves of Cadaverous Crypts as a shadow, Malefor struck a deal with a sprite named Calliope to steal the powers from the Skylanders, Hex, Cynder and Spyro, with a crystal. The sprite managed to succeed in fulfilling her part of the bargain, but was pursued by Spyro, Hex, Cynder and Wallop soon after they discovered Calliope's actions. Upon reaching the depths of Cadaverous Crypts where Malefor laid, Calliope hesitated on shattering the crystal to release the powers of the Skylanders as it will make them helpless. Malefor furiously ordered the fairy to do the deed, or she would face the consequences for disobeying him. Calliope then reluctantly released the powers of the Skylanders from the crystal, which were then absorbed by Malefor, allowing him to be revived. Almost immediately, he unleashed a devastating fire breath upon Spyro, Cynder, Hex and Wallop before announcing his return.
