Stories

Mad Hatters

This story is divided into two parts.

The first part, Get Ahead, Get a Hat!, begins with Fling Kong accidentally crashing into Torch on his way to the Academy Hat Competition, with Torch being dismayed as she did not prepare a hat for the Competition due to being too busy training with her Firespout. She goes to Hatterson to buy a hat, but finds that Trigger Happy bought the last of his stock just minutes ago.

As she passes by Food Fight and Funny Bone, all three Skylanders are suddenly presented with green hat boxes that appeared out of thin air. They all try on their new hats and go to the Competition, but Torch is stopped short when the Candle Hat she received from the box melts from the heat of her fiery hair. So, she ditches the ruined hat in favor of the Viking Helmet Funny Bone traded off in favor of his new hat. When she arrives at the Competition, however, she finds that all the Skylanders’ new hats have stuck tight to their heads, with the hats soon transforming into mind-controlling Chompy Capes. As they stand brainwashed, the Chompy Mage appears and reveals that this was all part of his plan to mind-control the Skylanders.

In the second part, Chompy Charge!, Torch attempts to break her fellow Skylanders free of the Chompy Mage’s mind control, but is unable to snap them out of their trances or remove the Chompy Capes. Before she can free them, she is noticed by the Chompy Mage and pretends to be mind-controlled as well. The Chompy Mage falls for her trick, and she further tricks him into revealing that he wants the brainwashed Skylanders to destroy Skylanders Academy, then turns the actually brainwashed Skylanders into a group of giant Sky-Chompies that he sends to destroy the Academy.

It is then that Torch reveals that her brainwashing was just a farce, and uses her hair to snatch the Chompy Mage’s staff and toss it in the way of the Sky-Chompies, who then smash it underfoot. With the staff destroyed, the Skylanders revert back to normal and trap the Chompy Mage in a giant hatbox. The Skylanders then have a laugh about the story’s events while the Chompy Mage and his puppet argue over whose fault the loss is.

Small Wonders

The sole comic in the annual begins with Buzz, Chopper and Shroomboom taking the Minis on a field trip to the Custard Ocean to practice battle formations. In the middle of their practice session, they are suddenly ambushed by Candy Geargolems, and Chopper and Shroomboom immedyately rush into the fray. They hold the Candy Geargolems back at first, but are foiled when the Geargolems merge into a giant Geargolem and get stuck in the Custard Ocean. As the giant Candy Geargolem prepares to crush Chopper and Shroomboom underfoot, the Minis band together and pretend to be a giant custard monster, which scares the giant Candy Geargolem to pieces. The comic ends with Buzz, Chopper and Shroomboom celebrating the Minis’ victory.
