- “Technology in the wrong hands.”
- – Game description
Tech Spell Punks are Spell Punks that wield the element of Tech. They can summon tracking lasers from the sky, which after a brief tracking period, fire down upon Skylanders unlucky enough to not avoid the lasers.
In Skylanders: Battlecast, Tech Spell Punks have the ability to Machinecraft, summoning two Tech Elemental Spell Cards, and always carry a Machine Wand, which allows them to attack alongside such spells.
Trivia
- Whilst all the other Spell Punks in Spyro’s Adventure appear in a level or multiple levels that share their respective elemental themes, Tech Spell Punks do not appear in any of the three tech-themed levels, instead appearing in Oilspill Island, a water-themed level, Falling Forest, a life-themed level, and Lair of Kaos, a level not themed around any element at all. They are the only Spell Punks in the game to have this distinction, apart from a single Earth Spell Punk that appears in Goo Factory, a tech-themed level, behind a fire elemental gate, of all places, however, all other Earth Spell Punks appear in Stone Town, an earth-themed level. It’s possible the lone Earth Spell Punk appearing in Goo Factory was an error on the developers’ part, and it was supposed to be a Tech Spell Punk, but the developer in charge of enemy placement accidentally placed an Earth Spell Punk there instead, and the error was kept in the game rather than fixed due to it being amusing to the developers, the developers being too lazy to fix it, the developers being on a time crunch, the developers figuring it still fit the theme of the level for some reason, no-one on the development team noticing the error, or a combination of any of the above. Coincidentally, both Tech Spell Punks and Earth Spell Punks are the only Spell Punk variants that haven’t reappeared in any Skylanders game since Spyro’s Adventure.
- Their appearance is slightly different from known Spell Punks in the Machinecraft Battlecast card. They have opposable thumbs in their white tentacle-like hands,a smaller, stylized silver star instead of a gear in the center of their robes, and the upper white jaw under their eyes is now under it.
