Stories
Head Games
This short story is split into two parts.
The first part, The Petrified Forest, opens on Flynn ferrying Spyro, Scorp, and Wind-Up to the Weird Woods on the Dread-Yacht in response to a distress call from several Ent explorers targeted by forces of The Darkness and Baron Von Shellshock. The Dread-Yacht crash-lands into the Woods, and the trio of Skylanders are ledto Baron Von Shellshock by Worrywood, one of the explorers who sent out the distress call.
As they make their way to the Baron, Worrywood explains that his team found an underground forest where Petrified Darkness grows during their exploration, and attracted Kaos’s attention. Baron Von Shellshock shows his face as the Skylanders arrive at the forest, where Greebles are harvesting the crystals. Baron Von Shellshock sends the Greebles to attack the Skylanders, who fight back while Flynn leads the explorers to safety. During the fight, Spyro taunts Baron Von Shellshock, and the Baron responses by evilizing Spyro, much to everyone’s shock and horror.
In the second part, Faces of Evil, Spyro is transformed into Dark Spyro by the evilization process. He then begins destroying the Petrified Darkness trees, much to Baron Von Shellshock’s shock. With his Greebles too preoccupied with Wind-Up and Scorp to defeat him, Baron Von Shellshock resorts to evilizing Flynn, who grows extremely large as a result of the process. Flynn immediately blows away Dark Spyro and turns him back to normal, while Evilized Flynn continues to shake the room with his blows. This gives the Skylanders the idea to continually praise Evilized Flynn. This causes him to grow bigger and bigger until he shatters the underground forest’s ceiling, and with it, the last of the Petrified Darkness crystals. Flynn returns to normal, and he and the Skylanders fly off as the Skylanders proclaim that for once, Flynn was the one to save the day (with some help from his friends, of course).
On With the Show
The sole comic in the annual begins with Roller Brawl and Bumble Blast waking up in a web of strings. As the two try to figure out how they got here, Roller Brawl is suddenly attacked by Slobber Tooth and Bumble Blast, who are not in control of their own actions. As the two fight among each other, Roller Brawl hears a familiar laugh, and finds that the three of them are on stage with Kaos and Glumshanks as part of the audience.
It is then that the three Skylanders recall that they arrived here after being knocked unconscious while investigating incidents of exploding snowmen in the Bone Desert at Master Eon’s bequest. They were captured by Mesmeralda, who turned them into her puppets. While Mesmeralda continues to control them, Bumble Blast shoots out his bees. This distracts Mesmeralda long enough for the Skylanders to break free. and tie up Kaos, Glumshanks and Mesmeralda, much to the villains’ disdain.

- Hektore is referenced in Listen to Mother as the forgotten overlord, perhaps as a reference to him not reappearing following his debut in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure.
- Skylands’ Most Mysterious Conundrums, the American release of the book, is mostly identical to the original annual save for changing all instances of British English to American English, as well as different back contents.
