Gargantulas are huge spiders first introduced in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure at Crawling Catacombs. These massive spiders shoot a strand of sticky web at Skylanders. The Gargantulas pull in their prey and strike for a lot of damage unless the Skylander can break free. When defeated, they will produce a small number of Skitterbooms or Spiderlings, depending on the game. However, they do not produce Spiders in most Heroic Challenges.

In Skylanders: Giants, Gargantulas reappear in The Oracle. In the Trial of Courage: Spiders, a single, much larger Gargantula appears. Later, in the Trial of Heart: Big Fish, several smaller Gargantulas are encountered.

Trivia

  • The name "Gargantula" is a combination of "gargantuan", another word for massive, and "tarantula", a type of spider.
  • In the strategy guide for Giants, they are the only enemies with all their stats shown as EXTREME.
  • Unlike other Spiders in the Skylanders games, who have only four legs, Gargantulas have six. This is ironically still less than the amount of legs real-world spiders have, which is eight.
  • Because they spawn smaller spiders when defeated, much like real-life female spiders carrying their offspring on their backs, one can assume that all Gargantulas are female.
  • Gargantulas are the only enemy in Giants whose alpha counterparts are identical to those in the final game.[1]
