Corn Hornets are insect enemies first seen in Treetop Terrace in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. In Spyro's Adventure, Corn Hornets shoot painful stingers that temporarily stun Skylanders when hit. A hornet's stinger can be dodged from afar, but is impossible to miss when close. If one's needle gets you, shake the controller as instructed onscreen.

In the 3DS versions Giants and Swap Force, they follow the Skylander and sting them when close enough. They are defeated after being hit once and cannot fall off ledges.

In the 3DS version of Swap Force, Corn Hornets are encountered in Bonsai Bay and Sheep Wreck Island. There are clockwork versions of the Corn Hornets, who were first encountered in the Ancient Woods, which are part of Count Moneybone's Clockwork Army.

Corn Hornets also make an appearance in the Full Blast Skylanders comic, as minions of Cross Crow. Instead of stunning their targets, their stingers cause them to lose consciousness for a short amount of time.

Trivia

  • The pain of a Corn Hornet's sting can be eased by applying banana gravy directly to the affected area, and crying uncontrollably for several hours.[1]
  • The Corn Hornets bear a slight resemblance to the Buzz Bombers, a type of Badnik, from the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series.
  • In Eruptor's Heroic Challenge, Isle of the Automatons, a greener variant of Corn Hornets appear.
    • In the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version, it shoots fireballs reminiscent of the ones shot by Dragonets instead of paralytic stingers.
