Magic Items are item Figures that assist the Skylanders or unlock new content. They can be used by placing them on the Portal of Power. Only one item can be active at the same time.

Use on Console

On the console, the items can be activated by placing them on the portal while playing. They will activate instantly and while they have a limited duration, they can be removed from the portal to save the remainder of the time for later in the chapter. When changing or resetting levels, the duration of the items is refreshed.

The adventure pack location figures all have the same effect regardless of which adventure pack is placed on the portal (Although they all have varying visual effects):

• Spyro's Adventure: Causes projectiles to rain from the sky for a short period, ending with a shockwave dealing 999 damage to all surrounding enemies.
• Giants: Duration of the projectile rain phase reduced, with the amount of projectiles that fall increasing steadily until the end, making it easier to see when the shockwave will occur.
• Swap Force: Damage of the shockwave reduced to 100.
• Trap Team: The shockwave now deals it's original 999 damage to small & medium enemies, while retaining the reduced 100 damage against larger, heavier enemies.

When placed on the portal in Skylanders: SuperChargers, Magic Items (including the Adventure Pack and Battle Pack figures) become Legendary Treasures that can be placed anywhere at the Skylanders Academy either for display purposes or to obtain more gold by hitting or interacting with them. Additionally, Skylanders: SuperChargers Racing has Magic Item Vaults spread throughout its tours, where Magic Items can be placed on the portal to earn bonus stars.

In Skylanders: SuperChargers Racing and the Racing Mode of Skylanders: SuperChargers, some of the Magic Items are used as in-game power-ups for speed boosts, invulnerability, healing, and other benefits during races. These power-ups bear no relation to their real-world figure counterparts and do not require the player to have the figures to use them.

None of the items from Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure to Skylanders: Trap Team appear in Skylanders: Imaginators, excluding their appearances in Racing Mode. Instead, when placed on the portal, they give over 500 coins to the Skylander on the portal. This is also the case for Traps.

Use on 3DS

In the 3DS versions, the items are 'registered' with Wendel, Hugo, or Flynn. They can then be activated an unlimited number of times by pressing the R button. However, each use costs a set amount of radiance crystals or coins.

The adventure pack Figures are only used to unlock the corresponding level in the 3DS versions.

Use in Webgame

The items only serve to fill the player's Collection; however, registering enough items will result in gaining a Medal as well as a minor gold bonus.

  • In Spyro's Adventure, Giants and Skylanders: Trap Team, they are split into several categories based on their functions; in Skylanders: Swap Force, they're all listed under a category named "Other Toys," marked with a rook icon.
