Fantasm Forest is a forest village home to the Treemen and the Ancient Tree Spirit. The Skylanders must defend the village from Kaos's fiery assault, fending off his army of Trolls and protecting the Tree Spirit from his Evilized Fire.

Description

Fantasm Forest is a cheerful, brightly colored Treeman village set in the midst of verdant islands. Grass, trees, and flowers bloom across the level, while a pale peach and blue sky lends the islands an idyllic appearance. Floating rivers line the skies, and flower petals drift across the ground. Throughout the level are scattered several watery caverns that contain glowing mushrooms and electric eels.

As the level progresses, its atmosphere darkens. Kaos's wildfire spreads progressively further after each firefighting sequence, causing the sky to grow deeper in color and the lighting to adopt a smokier, hotter hue. Clouds of gray smoke and orange sparks flow over the level's final islands, and trees appear charred and leafless, indicating the fire's advance. As soon as Kaos is defeated, however, the level reverts to its initial color, signifying that the village has been saved.

Trivia

  • In the Ancient Dig Site area, there is a statue of Tree Rex.
  • Despite its name, the forest's only Undead qualities are Elemental Gates, being instead inhabited by Life-aligned creatures.
  • In cutscenes, Fantasm Forest is depicted as a land of rolling green hills and thick, cone-shaped trees. In the actual level, though, Fantasm Forest is mostly a village and not a forest; it doesn't even possess any conical trees.
  • Fantasm Forest's placeholder name was Verdant.[1] Another early name for the level was Wildfire Rush.[2]
  • Remixes of Treetop Terrace's and Slime Pipe's theme play in the later stages of Fantasm Forest.
  • In this level, it was hard for the developer Vicarious Visions to tell where concept art ended and the level began. It was simply that beautiful.[3]
  • In Swap Force's alpha build, Fantasm Forest reuses music from Shattered Island, Icicle Isle, and Stormy Stronghold.[4]
