Kaos' Fortress is Kaos's base of operations in the Cloudbreak Islands. This industrial fortress seethes with strange experiments, populated by robot guards and mutants such as Chompy Pastepetals spawned from Kaos's maniacal ointments.
Description
Kaos' Fortress is a dark, sinister factory armed with huge walls, searchlights, robot guards, turrets, and jets streaking overhead. The fortress doubles as a laboratory filled with churning machinery and lurid lakes of yellow-green goo, which ripples like water and causes damage when touched. The level is lit by moonlight, though many artificial sources of light brighten it from within. Few signs of natural life appear in the fortress's vicinity, with its surrounding islands being barren black husks overrun by Evilizer crystals, and its only living vegetation taking the form of small square gardens to feed the fortress's resident population of sheep. The level's sky is a dark blend of gray, purple, blue, and polluted green; shapes in the distance appear as dark silhouettes, lending the fortress an impression of grand scale. In the far background there are huge fortress walls.
