“This is a grand racing tradition celebrating the epic journey of peinguin explorer, Onk Beakman. During the trek, he avoided dangerous crevices and survived by eating only pancakes. Thus, you too must avoid balloons that represent crevices and eat pancakes that represent pancakes to properly recreate his expedition. Oh and Giants get more time for eating pancakes.”

The Great Pancake Slalom is a Heroic Challenge in Skylanders: Giants, unlocked by Chill. It uses a variation of the Empire of Ice map. The objective is to complete a linear race course under a starting time limit of 10 seconds.

The player must avoid balloons, which represent dangerous crevices—each balloon popped subtracts 1 second from the timer. Scattered throughout the course are pancakes that grant bonus time: 5 seconds for regular Skylanders and 7 seconds for Giants.

The race takes place across icy terrain, which makes movement slippery and more difficult. Certain sections require the use of Bounce Pads and Teleporters to progress. There is also a wall that only Giants can destroy, revealing a shortcut through the course.

Trivia

  • The pancakes in the challenge do not heal the Skylanders when collected.
  • Strangely, the first two pancakes always grant 5 seconds of bonus time, even when playing as a Giant.
  • Several Mabu are seen spectating the race, including female Mabu children. These use a model that is not commonly seen elsewhere in the game, though they also appears in Jet-Vac's Heroic Challenge, Nort's Winter Classic.
  • One of the spectators seen in the challenge shares the same model as the Mabu Princess from The Oracle.
