“Wow, where to even begin. Okay, this particular plot of land was purchased by an evil sorceress, Sabrina. Turns out it was already inhabited by the Gecko Chorus. And these guys like to sing. Constantly. To their Capybara King. I know, it's crazy but keep following me here. All the singing drove Sabrina nuts so she summoned a bunch of creeps to lock up the Geckos and their King. If you can rescue them all, I'm sure they would really appreciate it. Nobody should be locked up for singing. Not even the Gecko Chorus.”

S.A.B.R.I.N.A. is a Heroic Challenge unlocked by Tree Rex in Skylanders: Giants. The objective is to rescue five groups of Gecko Chorus and the Capybara King within a time limit of three minutes and thirty seconds.

The challenge takes place on a map controlled by the evil sorceress Sabrina, who has imprisoned the Gecko Chorus and their Capybara King due to their constant singing. Each of the five Gecko groups is trapped behind stone walls that must be destroyed to reach and free them. Once all five groups have been rescued, the gates leading to the Capybara King will open, allowing access to the final objective. When the Capybara King is reached, he will give the Skylander an Amulet as thanks, and the timer will stop, marking the successful completion of the challenge.

The map contains enemy resistance and environmental obstacles that may hinder progress. Players must destroy the correct stone barriers, defeat any nearby enemies, and reach all targets before the timer expires to successfully complete the challenge.

Development

The Heroic Challenge, S.A.B.R.I.N.A. was something Toys For Bob made with a girl from the Make-A-Wish foundation. She wanted to learn about video games and Toys for Bob went through the process, designing that challenge together. That ode to the Capybara King the Gecko Chorus sings is even a song that the girl and her friends made up, as they’re big Capybara fans.

Trivia

• The Gecko Chorus' icon in S.A.B.R.I.N.A. displays yellow and green geckos, but these variants do not appear in the actual challenge.
• In the earliest alpha of Skylanders: Giants, this challenge had a 5:00 timer. Little Mabu appeared in place of the Gecko Chorus, a giant baby Mabu appeared in place of the Capybara King, and Rhu-Barbs were scattered throughout the area. The challenge ended when the player touched the heart-shaped charm at the end. Compared to other alpha Heroic Challenges, this one is unique in that Cali's dialogue was already finalized early in development.
