Cynder is a violet dragoness Skylander in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. She is of the Undead element. Her Series 3 counterpart is called Phantom Cynder. She has a skeletal October counterpart called Skeletal Cynder.

Biography
While just an egg, Cynder was stolen by the henchmen of an evil dragon named Malefor and raised to do his bidding. For years, she spread fear throughout the land until she was defeated by Spyro the Dragon and freed from the grip of Malefor. But dark powers still flow through her, and despite her desire to make amends for her past, most Skylanders try to keep a safe distance… just in case.
Story
History
Cynder is a dangerous dragon with a dark past. While still in her egg, Cynder was stolen by the henchman of the evil Dragon King named Malefor. He brought the youngster up as a black-hearted harbringer of despair, but deep inside Malefor's monstrous apprentice shone a small speck of goodness. It was none other than Spyro who released Cynder from Malefor's grip by defeating her in battle. Once defeated, the red mist lifted and the spell of evil was broken. Cynder quickly renounced her evil ways and vowed to fight for good. She even joined Spyro on a dangerous quest and came out smiling. Trusting Spyro's judgement, Master Eon signed Cynder up to become one of the scariest Skylanders.[2]

Although it is currently unknown if Spyro and Cynder are in a relationship or not, it was mentioned that after a dangerous quest with Spyro, Cynder came out smiling, presumably for the first time.

Due to her exposure to the darkness of Malefor's corruption, Cynder gained abilities that are related to the elements of Undead, such as breathing dark electricity and temporarily turning into her shadow form to dash past enemies, leaving behind a trail of ghostly allies in her wake that will harm her foes.
Being a dragon, Cynder also has the ability to fly using her wings.

Trivia
- Cynder's appearance is similar to her Legend of Spyro counterpart.
- Like Spyro, Cynder is also the most recognizable of the Skylanders, since she and Spyro appeared in a game series outside the Skylanders franchise, the Spyro series.
- She is one of three characters from the Spyro game series to be featured in the Skylanders series (the other two are Spyro and Sparx).
- In the Darklight Crypt, there are head statues who resemble Cynder at the entrance to the maze.
- In The Beginning trailer, Cynder is not present. However, she is seen in The Director's Cut version flying alongside Spyro and Gill Grunt at the beginning of the battle and carrying away a recolored, enemy version of Cali that was about to harm Gill Grunt.
- Though Cynder is one of few who speaks English in Spyro's Adventure, she does not say her official catchphrase until Skylanders: Giants.
- Despite Cynder's biography mentioning that the other Skylanders keep a safe distance from Cynder due to her dark past and sinister powers, in the Tall Tales trailer, the Skylanders present are calm around Cynder, implying that they trust her, although this could be because they have had time since before the events of Spyro's Adventure to get to know and trust her.

- Not counting the clear chase variants, (Series 3) Phantom Cynder is the second figure to have a translucent appearance while Slam Bam is the first one.
- When Cynder has a hat on a performs a shadow dash, her hat is still seen but is slightly tipped forward.
