During its creation, Doom Stone went through several concepts, originally it was about to be a snake or a male gorgon made of rock, the column where it would be held was going to have a snake-tail shape and at first it was going to have a very different SWAP ability. Later, it was given a humanoid shape, passing through other concepts such as the column in the shape of a serpent's tail, a spear as a weapon instead of its mallet, a different helmet and it was even going to have legs while retaining its belt of sharp crystals.
Background
Personality
Doom Stone is a fearsome opponent but is always happy to help his frends with any task.[1]
Biography
Doom Stone was carved from the strongest and purest stone in Skylands, then magically brought to life by a wizard who was rather lazy and wanted someone strong to carry heavy things and perform other tasks around his castle. Doom Stone happily helped, and in his spare time learned the ancient ways of Stone Fighting should he ever need to protect the wizard, who became like a father to him. Sure enough the need arose when the wizard was kidnapped by his evil twin brother in order to steal his spells for himself. Doom Stone wasted no time in using the skills he learned to save his master. Afterward, the wizard knew Doom Stone had a greater calling and introduced him to Master Eon, who made him a Skylander.

Doom Stone's new shield from his "Jaded Fighter" top path
Trivia
His name is a play on the word 'tombstone'.
The pun in which the word "doom" replaces the word "tomb" is repeated with the Doom Raiders, and the phrase 'tomb raiders'.
The lazy wizard who brought Doom Stone to life has once asked Doom Stone to clean all the windows of his home. However, Doom Stone's super-strength had caused all the windows to shatter to pieces at the slightest touch, and the wizard has vowed since then to only use a professional window washer.[2]
He slightly resembles Doctor Doom from Marvel. Both have a grey and green color scheme and have "Doom" for their names.
Doom Stone, Golden Queen and Crusher are the only Skylanders who can turn their enemies into statues.
Coincidentally, they are all non-core Skylanders of the Earth element.
On his artwork and toy figure, Doom Stone has sand swirling around the pile of circular stones he has for legs and almost obscure them from view. However, the sand is absent when he is in the game.
He is voiced by Travis Willingham, who also voices the Undead Giant, Eye-Brawl.
Doom Stone and Free Ranger are the only SWAP Force Skylanders with the spin ability.
Doom Stone is the last SWAP Force member to be released.
He is also the second non-core Skylander to be the last one released, while Ninjini is the first.
Doom Stone's "Column Duty" and "More Doric Warfare" upgrades are word-plays on the game series Call of Duty and one of the games in it, Modern Warfare (also produced by Activision).
The pupils within his eyes appear to be hollowed out.
When Doom Stone activates his shield, he is capable of stopping spinning enemies like Pirate Slamspins and Twistpick Cyclopses only when they hit it and become frozen.
If Doom Stone selects "Jaded Fighter", ruby eyes will appear on the face of his shield and triangular emeralds show up around the rims.
Doom Stone is based on Greek mythology. His clothing/carving resembles that of a Greek/Roman gladiator. He can also turn enemies into jade, similar to how Medusa can turn her victims into stone.
If you place Doom Stone's top half onto Boom Jet's bottom half, you get Doom Jet, which, coincidentally, shares its name with Kaos's signature vehicle.
In the description of Doom Stone's unique Quest, "Stop Hitting Yourself", the word "Chompies" is not capitalized.
