Cynder is a violet dragoness Skylander in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. She is of the Undead element.
Background
Personality
Although Cynder desires to make amends by battling evildoers with her dark powers, she still struggles with her dark past and can be occasionally menacing. This sinister trait causes most of the Skylanders to try and keep a safe distance from Cynder just in case. But she is learning... slowly.
Biography
While just an egg, Cynder was stolen by the henchmen of an evil dragon named Malefor and raised to do his bidding. For years, she spread fear throughout the land until she was defeated by Spyro the Dragon and freed from the grip of Malefor. But dark powers still flow through her, and despite her desire to make amends for her past, most Skylanders try to keep a safe distance… just in case.
Story
History
Cynder is a dangerous dragon with a dark past. While still in her egg, Cynder was stolen by the henchman of the evil undead Dragon King named Malefor. He brought the youngster up as a black-hearted harbringer of despair, but deep inside Malefor's monstrous apprentice shone a small speck of goodness. It was none other than Spyro who released Cynder from Malefor's grip by defeating her in battle. Once defeated, the red mist lifted and the spell of evil was broken. Cynder quickly renounced her evil ways and vowed to fight for good. She even joined Spyro on a dangerous quest and came out smiling. Trusting Spyro's judgement, Master Eon signed Cynder up to become one of the scariest Skylanders.[1]
Skylanders: Spyro versus The Mega Monsters
Cynder was mentioned as one of the two Skylanders (the other being Hex) who was assigned by Master Eon to investigate a mega-sized cockroach that was terrorizing Lucky Lagoon. However Kaos, who had claimed to be turning over a new leaf by battling evildoers, dealt with the problem long before the two Undead Skylanders arrived on the scene.
Gameplay
Due to her exposure to the darkness of Malefor's corruption, Cynder gained abilities that are related to the elements of Undead, such as breathing dark electricity and temporarily turning into her shadow form to dash past enemies, leaving behind a trail of ghostly allies in her wake that will harm her foes.
Being a dragon, Cynder also has the ability to fly using her wings.

Trivia
- Cynder's appearance is similar to her Legend of Spyro counterpart.
- Though Cynder is one of few who speaks English in Spyro's Adventure, she does not say her official catchphrase until Skylanders: Giants.
- She is one of three characters who has appeared in the Spyro series to be in the Skylanders series (the other two are Spyro and Sparx).
- Despite Cynder's biography mentioning that the other Skylanders keep a safe distance from Cynder due to her dark past and sinister powers, in the Tall Tales trailer, the Skylanders present are calm around Cynder, implying that they trust her, although this could be because they have had time since before the events of Spyro's Adventure to get to know and trust her.
- In the 3DS version of Skylanders, Cynder doesn't have spikes on her bracers, while in the console versions, she does.
- The symbol on Cynder's forehead is the Brand of the Undead, which unleashes ghostly allies from beyond the grave.[1]
- Cynder's spiked collar and bracelets are part of the Undead punk fashion.[1]
- Vathek was originally going to be the Undead dragon Skylander of Spyro's Adventure, but the role was already taken by Cynder.
- Her counterpart in The Legend of Spyro series have romantic feelings for Spyro. Its unknown if Cynder have the same feelings for Spyro in the Skylanders series like her counterpart.
