Lair of Kaos is the final level in the console versions of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. It is a flying thorned fortress that surrounds Castle Blackthrone, home to the evil Portal Master Kaos. Metallic claws can move on their own and lash down on passing Skylanders, and every enemy that they've faced in previous chapters lurk about the towers.
Description
Lair of Kaos is an otherworldly stronghold set in the gloomy wastes of the Outlands. A pale moon lurks in the sky, while white and blue volcanoes can be glimpsed in the landscape below. The level itself takes place on a number of islands set with blue-veined stone, electric claw traps, thorny red plants, scaly walls, and reptilian eyeballs. A number of unsettling, synthetic sound effects play in the level's background ambiance.

Trivia
- The level layout ends up different halfway on the Wii version than on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC version.
- On the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC version, flying platforms take the player to specific areas, whereas on the Wii version, the level splits into various corridors.
- According to a level designer, the moving platforms were removed in the Wii version due to issues with collision and players. The platform section was also considered either too easy or two hard, a mere filler section delaying the confrontation with Kaos, and thus it was cut from the "true" (Wii) version of the game. [1]
- The layout for the Lair of Kaos is also used as the final battleground in the Dark Mirror when the Skylander finally face Hektore.
- Serveral aspects of this level were later used in the final level of Skylanders: Imaginators, including the name.
- According to Flynn during the story mode of Skylanders: Giants, the Lair of Kaos was destroyed after the events of Spyro's Adventure.
