The Nightmare Express is the first adventure pack released for Skylanders: Trap Team. It comes with the Air Skylander, Blades and two Magic Items, Piggy Bank and Hand of Fate. The pack is alternatively available with Legendary Blades, Legendary Hand of Fate and the Piggy Bank.
In the console versions, the level takes place in Flynn's wild imagination as he memoirs the story on how he found the legendary Trolly Grail. Noodles also appears as the level's antagonist, playing as a rival treasure hunter who also wants the Trolly Grail.
In the Nintendo 3DS version, the Nightmare Express acts as a transportation for nightmares. It has run out of control and the Skylander must reach the front car and pull the brakes in order to stop the train.

Trivia
- It is the first and currently only Adventure Pack to receive an alternate Legendary bundle.
- In the Nintendo 3DS version, the Nightmare Express is said to bring bad dreams to people as it travels (and slowing it down means people have less nightmares). Because the console version is only Flynn's version of his encounter with it, it is unknown if it is truly the train's purpose.
- Concepts for this level show the ruins in a much worse state, as well as having Arkeyan parts and designs scattered throughout, similar to Time of the Giants.[1][2]
- One of the tracks in Skylanders: SuperChargers Racing is based off of the Temple of BOOM! area in this Adventure Pack.
- This and Dragon's Peak are the only adventure packs to include dragon Skylanders (Blades and Sunburn, respectively).
- Nightmare Express is largely inspired by the Indiana Jones adventures; its Trolly Grail and Temple of BOOM! are respective references to Indiana Jones's Holy Grail and the Temple of Doom.
