Axes are environmental hazards found exclusively in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. In the console versions, they appear throughout the chapter Creepy Citadel. The citadel axes are used in two distinct variations.
The first type consists of single axes mounted on walls that swing horizontally from side to side. These are often placed in narrow corridors and passageways, requiring Skylanders to carefully time their movements to avoid being struck. In some cases, they are combined with rotating floor panels, making timing more difficult.
The second type features two opposing axes that slam together in a synchronized crushing motion before pulling back and repeating. These clamping axes are usually placed in narrow areas, functioning as rhythmic traps that can deal heavy damage if a Skylander gets caught between them.
In Wighthaunt, axes are hanging vertically from above on grooves that are beyond the top of the player's view and swing from side-to-side.
