Clam-tron 4000

Clam-tron 4000 is a giant Robot in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure who resides on the beach in the Ruins

Story

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure

After retrieving the Eternal Water Source, the Skylanders finds Clam-tron 4000 immobile on the beach in the Ruins. With a few drops from an oil can, Clam-tron is able to move again. He reveals that he can extract pearls from clams. However, after the Skylander gathers a few clams for him, Clam-tron mistakenly believes he's creating "black pearls," but instead, he produces bombs. These bombs turn out to be incredibly useful, especially in unlocking new areas around the Ruins, such as opening the blocked pathways to Crystal Eye Castle and Molekin Mine.

In the Wii version, it is mentioned that General Robot is his "father," and he describes him by saying that "he's strict now, but you should have seen when he was a few quarts of oil younger."

Skylanders: Giants

Clam-tron 4000 reappears in Skylanders: Giants, stationed at the Tech Elemental Gate in the Secret Vault of Secrets. He later appears in The Oracle during the Trial of Speed, where he challenges the Skylander to a game of Skystones. Additionally, Clam-tron makes an appearance in Fright Rider's Heroic challenge Delivery Day.

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure

  • "...... oil... can...."
  • "Goooooooood Morning Skylands! Whew. Thanks for the oil-up! I've been stuck in that position for ages!"
  • "Ooooph. That feels good. Hey, I owe you, big time. I know! I can make you rich! See, I'm a Clam-Tron 4000. Just find me some clams and I'll mash them all up into a big fat Pearl! How's that?"
  • "As promised. One new gleaming white Pearl coming right up!"
  • "A little more pressure! Add some heat! Now just shift it around with a touch of elbow grease and PRESTO!"
  • "What? A shiny new BLACK pearl? Oh no... what happened? What did you do to me? I've lost my gift."
  • "I don't understand - what are you talking about?"
  • "I made it myself!"
  • "All right then. Just come back any time you need another one. Apparently I can make these things all day long."
  • "Have you met my dad, General Robot? If you think he's strict now, you should have seen him when I was a few quarts of oil younger."
  • "Producing bombs from clams is no easy task, let me tell you. Lots of explosive indigestion."
  • "I wish I could move from this spot - but on the bright side - I guess there are worse places to be stuck than on a really nice beach!"

Skylanders: Giants

  • "Hey, a Skylander, all right! I've been in here for hours trying to find a special hat that the Arkeyans supposedly left behind."
  • "But yeesh! It's pretty tricky. Maybe you'll have better luck than I did."
  • "Boy am I glad to see you! I must have taken the wrong turn at... somewhere. But, since we're both here, wanna play a game of Skystones?"
  • "No problem, I understand. Come back any time. Guess I'll be here for a while." - when you say 'no' to Clam-Tron 4000
  • "Great! So nice to finally have someone to play with!" - when you say 'yes' to Clam-Tron 4000
  • "This game is pretty tough, huh? Tougher than shucking clams, that's for sure!" - when Clam-Tron 4000 beats you at Skystones
  • "Nice job! And hey, if you ever figure out how to get out of this crazy place, let me know!" - when you beat Clam-Tron 4000 at Skystones

Trivia

  • Clam-tron 4000 appears to be able to swim, as in the Secret Vault of Secrets, he resides in an area that was underwater for most of the level.
  • He may be looking for advice or a wish, as he is found at The Oracle. Ironically, he is found in the Trial of Strength: Speed, when it would seem he would be much more fitted for the Trial of Strength: Power.
  • In the Xbox 360 version of Spyro's Adventure, oiling Clam-tron while he's saying "oil... can..." for the first time will result in him briefly vanishing.
  • Oiling the Clam-tron for the first time may be a reference to the Tin Man from the 1939 musical film The Wizard of Oz (as both characters struggle to say the words “Oil Can”).
