The Sheep are some of the local animals in the Skylanders series. They are notable for being the popular animals from the original Spyro the Dragon series, having made a reappearance in Skylanders.

Stealing Myth

On a Story Scroll found in Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, Eon tells of the sheep in Skylands. It is said that people count sheep to fall asleep (which is a common human method to get to sleep) but when they woke up they found that things were missing. People believe that when the victum falls into his or her's deep sleep sheep steal their things. It is unknwon if this is true.

Believers

Hugo

Hugo strongly dislikes sheep, calling them evil and fearing them. Hugo attempts to get people to believe that Sheep are evil, but others don't believe it due to how harmless the sheep are.

Role

The sheep among the indigenous fauna of Skylands. Most of the sheep population graze in the Perilous Pastures but three sheep were accidentally brought to the Ruins in one of the cutscenes of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure.

In a Story Scroll, according to a note from Hugo, the sheep are among 'the most feared creatures in Skylands' and that many Mabu 'find their belongings missing after falling asleep while counting sheep'. Another scroll mentions that Mabu use small tornadoes to get rid of sheep. However, it is uncertain whether all Mabu fear sheep or it's just propaganda by Hugo himself.

Console Versions

Despite harmlessly grazing the Ruins, the sheep play a small role as an obstacle. When Arbo needs to gather apples for special seeds, the sheep will try and eat the apples. The Skylander will then have to gather the apples before the sheep eats them, in order for Arbo to be able to find the location of the Eternal Life Source.

When attacked by a Skylander in the Ruins, sheep have approximately 7 different reactions which vary by character and attack type. If a Skylanders picks up the oil can at the docks next to Gurglefin, and you pour oil on the sheep, their fleece will turn black. Skylanders who use a fire attack such as Spyro, Eruptor, and Flameslinger singe the sheep, turning their wool black. Characters like Stump Smash and Bash roll and smash the sheep flat. Electricity-capable Skylanders such as Voodood, Zap, and Cynder cause the sheep's coat to fluff up many times its normal size. If Double Trouble uses his beam on them, the wool will change color. When Gill Grunt uses his water canon, the sheep's wool becomes sopping wet and condenses around its body. The most common effect, however, is being knocked out and dazed momentarily. This is caused by general punches, tail whips, and projectiles.

3DS Version

In the 3DS version of Skylanders, sheep are the local animals in the Radiant Isles. In Daystar Temple, whenever you break the sacred Sheep statues, your Skylander will temporarily turn into a Sheep. After a while they change back.

Trivia

  • In the console versions, sheep seem to be unusally smart, as they manage to stowaway on Flynn's balloon.
  • In the 3DS version of Spyro's Adventure, sheep seem surprisingly dimwitted, but seem to have the capability to speak.
