Stonetown is the ninth chapter in the console version of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. It is where the Skylanders go to to retrieve the Eternal Earth Source. However, once they arrive, they learn that the Eternal Earth Source had turned into a terrible monster called the Stone Golem.

Description

Stonetown is a Mabu village built next to a Cyclops outpost. Toward the beginning of the level lies a massive lake fed by a waterfall, whose roaring can be heard a long distance away. Stonetown's grassy islands and sunny blue sky lend it a more ordinary atmosphere than many of the other fantastical levels.

Story

Diggs leads the Skylanders to Stonetown, which is just beyond a large Cyclops outpost. The Mabu citizens of Stonetown have found the Eternal Earth Source, and are keeping it safe for the Skylanders to retrieve. However, the ground is shaking terribly, indicating that something is wrong. After the Skylanders battle through the outpost and defeat the enemies inside, they discover that the Earth Source has become a giant Stone Golem, causing havoc and endangering the Mabu.

At the edge of the town, the Skylanders go and confront the golem, which fights back by rolling boulders and raining stones down. Eventually, the Skylanders defeat the golem, reverting it back into the Eternal Earth Source and allowing the Skylanders to claim it.

Trivia

  • Stonetown was the prototype level for Spyro's Kingdom and Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure as a whole.[1] The prototype version would later be shown in the 10th anniversary official stream of the game, mostly unchanged except for a scrapped dark maze after the New Fortress, which was replaced with Wayward Town.
    • Although in the prototype the top of the waterfall in Blue Water Swamp can't be accessed, using an emulator's free camera shows that it's a large lake, with no other features.
  • The Mabu who speaks in the beginning cutscene of the level shares the same voice and character portrait as Blobbers. It is possible that this Mabu was intended to be Blobbers. However, the Mabu is only referred to as "Citizen".
  • In the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions, the Stone Golem's defeat animation is shortened, making him disappear before he falls to the ground.
