Soul Gems are glowing gem-like treasures that unlock a special upgrade for a specific Skylander. They are found in all chapters of the console versions of the Skylanders series.
After a gem has been found, the corresponding upgrade can be bought from Persephone or a Power Pod.
It should be noted that you can only find Adventure Pack Soul Gems in the respective level they come with, with the exception of Tower of Time and Sheep Wreck Island (example: Sunburn's soul gem can only be found in the Adventure Pack level he comes with: the Dragon's Peak).
In Skylanders: SuperChargers, the Soul Gems are not in any specific locations. You can acquire them in the Academy Store, the Wishing Well, or Epic Chests scattered throughout the story.
Locations
Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure
Skylanders: Giants
Skylanders: Swap Force
Skylanders: Trap Team
Skylanders: Imaginators
Trivia
- In Giants and Trap Team, two different songs can play when you get a Soul Gem; this normally depends if you get it with a Giant, or another Skylander.
- In Swap Force, the order of the Soul Gems are found may indicate the release of the Skylander, (for instance, Pop Thorn to Roller Brawl Wave 1 release, Grilla Drilla to Fire Kraken Wave 2, Smolderdash to Rubble Rouser Wave 3, and Fryno to Doom Stone Wave 4).
- Wind-Up and Grim Creeper break this pattern, having Soul Gems that appear in Iron Jaw Gulch despite the fact that they came out in Wave 3.
- In Swap Force, the SWAP Force theme song will play after finding a Soul Gem, no matter which Skylander you use to collect it.
- As of Imaginators, no Starter Pack Skylanders have had their Soul Gems in the first level.
